Greetings Dippers. Welcome to our brand spanking new newsletter. Whether you are one of our regulars, a one-timer, or are yet to join us, welcome, welcome, welcome!
This monthly newsletter hopes to act as a reflection on the month that has just passed as well as informing you about the month to come. It will hopefully also inspire you to don your swimwear and get out to join us.April has been a quiet month for us at TYD. We had to postpone our double dip at Keld due to unsafe water levels. We moved it back and so have also pushed back our lido swim. However, this doesn't mean we haven't been busy! We kick-started the month with a little trip to Wales (just the 3 of us) where we had so many glorious dips including in the breath-taking Watkin Path pools and at the beautifully serene Lonely Tree. Please feel free to comment with your favourite swim this month. We love to add new spots to our 'to-dip' list.
Alongside that, we have also been working on a few more exciting projects such as a pre-order for merch and art workshops. More info to come on these soon so keep your eyes peeled! Now spring is here (or attempting to be), we have started up twice-weekly swim meets at the one and only Pool Bridge Farm. We meet every Tuesday and Friday at 5:30pm and also sometimes arrange a weekend morning swim too. If you fancy coming along, just join our TYD PBF chat. And we did finally make it to Keld where we had the most eventful dip to date! 3 dippers locked out of their car for 5 hours. One drowned Go Pro, amazingly retrieved by Rachel. One limpy lamb rescued and returned to it’s mother. One mysteriously missing dipper coincidentally found a few hours later in the cafe. Swim-ventures don't always go to plan but today's adventure was filled with so much love and so many smiles despite the chaos!May is set to be a magnificent month for The Yorkshire Dippers, especially if it ever stops bloody raining!
Saturday 4th May, Gibson’s Cave @ 10:30am
First up, we have our dip at Gibson's Cave with a potential for a second dip at Low Force or another local spot. This involves a shortish walk or 2. This is a Star Wars themed swim (May the 4th be with you!) but don't worry if you can't do Princess Leia space buns, we have something up our sleeves to mark the occasion.
Sunday 19th May, Rivelin Valley Plunge Pool @ 10:30am
Next up is the fun-filled Rivelin Valley Plunge Pool. This spot is just a 5 minute walk from the car and has a fun jump as well as allowing you to stand directly under the falls. Brain freeze anyone?
Upcoming in June:
2nd: Knaresborough Lido
8th: Rydal Water
22nd: Burnsall
30th: Ilkley Lido

Vic, Leia & I (Emily) really do feel honoured to have created this lovely little community and so we would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who had joined us so far. We look forward to our swim days and, regardless of how we are feeling before, we always leave with smiles on our faces and warmth in our hearts. Corny? Maybe a bit, but it's true. If you are thinking about joining us, please do. We are a wonderfully eclectic mix of people (mainly women but a few token males too! Hi Mark!)
We aren't the most peaceful of groups, but we are very welcoming and friendly.
We look forward to dipping with you soon, Vic, Leia & Emily. x
