Hello dip friends & other subscribers! It's the first of the month so that means it's time for another newsletter!
Finally, summer has just about arrived and it's so nice to be able to lounge by the water before and after a swim, as apposed to drying as quickly as possible, shoving on some layers (whilst muttering various swear words when they won't go on quick enough), shoving a hot water bottle down your top and legging it to the car to put the heating on!
The Yorkshire Dippers have definitely been making the most of the nice weather and spending a lot of our time at our favourite place, Pool Bridge Farm. At the start of the month, we had our sauna & swim event in the stunning lake view sauna, taking on the heat for as long as we could before running and jumping back into the cold water. Heat. Dip. Repeat.
We then got a sneaky invite to be the first group to use the brand new, glorious Q Lake. I know people have been pestering for months about it's opening, but we can confirm... It is definitely worth the wait. With various jumping platforms, ramps for SUPs and kayaks and super clear water, it's just perfect for everyone! We had way too much fun doing all kinds of leaps and dives for hours!
We were lucky enough to enjoy the summer solstice at Pool Bridge Farm too. A group of us tried our first sound bath and some people even managed not to doze off! As the sun set and the sky turned to rainbow hues, we swam and marveled about how lucky we are. We then dashed home (or to our tents for some) for 4 hours sleep (if we were lucky) before racing back for the sunrise swim through the lillies and an early breakfast on the sun-dappled banks.
Later in the month, we also had our Pizza & Swim Social. It was amazing to have so many of you come along and join us for a beautiful swim in M Lake, followed by delicious pizzas at the cafe. Some of us even managed another swim after the pizza, without sinking!
To end the month, we attended the incredible Pool Bridge Farm has talent! What an entertaining show it was. I must admit, the acts definitely exceeded our expectations! We laughed, we cried, we cheered and we laughed some more.
When we haven't been living and breathing all things Pool Bridge Farm, we have either been out adventuring or working behind the scenes on various exciting updates such as new merch and bumper stickers!!
On 8th June, we had an unforgettable day at Grasmere for Vic's birthday. We swam, we SUP'd, we ate cake and we laughed. When it was time to leave, a small group of TYDers set off on an adventure of a life-time. We hiked up to Rydal Cave where we swam in the ice cold cave pool, while 80 church-goers sang melodiously, filling every inch of the cave with their song. The acoustics were out of this world and it was a swim we will never forget. We then trundled down to Rydal Water (losing, swapping and misplacing a few phones along the way!!) for a choppy swim out to the old boat hut. After basking in the sun, like a group of beached whales, we continued our adventure up to the beautiful Rydal Hall Grot before tackling the neverending hike up to Buckstones Jum. Some of us nearly didn't make it but after a few rests (by rest, I mean sprawling out on the ground in despair), the whole group finally reached the crystal clear pool to catch the last of the sunshine. Needless to say, after an 18 hour day, 4 swims and 27,000 steps, we all slept like logs that night... And felt like we needed zimmerframes the next day!!
We rounded off the month with an incredible art worksop & swim at Chaloner Pond, run by our own Leia Norman (Yorkshire Artist). Don't worry if you missed out, there's another Yorkshire Artist workshop lined up for August! (link below!)
